How to work with Recruiters
The video below looks at how to work with Executive Recruiters, however, the points discussed are relevant at all levels.
It articulates well a number of points that candidates need to understand to maximise their time spent working with Recruiters.
It opens with the statement:
“Recruiters work for Clients, they work exclusively for Clients”
This is a really important point to understand.
He follows up with:
“You can make this work for you, as long as you understand that it’s not a Recruiters job to find you your next position, it’s a Recruiters job to solve the problem that their Clients have”
The world of recruitment has evolved from a time when big recruitment companies would dine out purely on the size of their database.
They were always, and some still are, keen to register as many candidates as they can in order to create a large candidate pool to give them as many options as possible for their future vacancies.
The problem for you as a candidate is that you can spend a lot of time and money attending registration interviews with no guarantee that any of these companies will have a suitable opportunity for you.
You need to be more strategic with where you spend your time and this video gives a great overview of how to do this.
This does not mean that Recruiters can’t help you.
